APPLICATION OF BASALT FIBER IN CONSTRUCTION

Basalt fiber can be widely used in heat and sound insulations, fireproof materials and sprinkler systems, filters, in ptoduction of technical fabrics and nonwoven materials, reinforced composited materials. It can provide high resistance to chemical environments (acids, alkalis and solutions of salt) and also to high temperatures and open flame. Due to chemical resilience, basalt fiber can be used in concrete and asphalt concrete reinforcements, production of pipes, tanks for chemical and petrochemical industries, composites for the construction
Basalt fiber rebar
Used for strengthen various building structures which are used in environments with various level of aggressive effect
Advantages in comparison with glass composite fittings:
  • Up to 25% increase in tensile strength
  • The modulus of elasticity is 15% higher
  • Durability and impact resistance
In comparison with steel reinforcement, the main advantages are:
  • Significant weight reduction - 6 times more reinforced concrete structures heavier than similar, made with the use of basalt products
  • Chemical and corrosion resistance
  • Lack of a cold joints
Basalt geogrid (geo mesh)
Used to reinforce horizontal seams and plaster layer of masonry of bearing and non-bearing walls and also to be as a binder in multi-layered stone walls

Basalt geogrid have several advantages over metal, glass and polyester mesh:
  • Resistance to aggressive environments
  • Corrosion resistance
  • Value for money
  • Thin fold seam
  • Easy installation
  • Light weight (0.25 kg / sq.m)
  • Low thermal conductivity (0.03W / s)
  • High adhesion to concrete
  • 8 times stronger than steel
Basalt composite macrofiber (rebars) for strengthening concrete
Basalt composite macrofiber is a pultruded composite in the form of a relief thread based on cured alkali resistant epoxy resin and continuous basalt fiber. Macrofiber is designed for increase the strength and crack resistance of concrete. Wave-like relief provides anchoring in concrete and absorption of cracking energy under loads on concrete.

    Advantages over steel fiber:
    • Corrosion resistance
    • Low thermal conductivity
    • Radio transparency
    • Low specific gravity

    Chopped basalt fiber
Chopped fiber is designed to reinforce concrete and to produce pressed material, to fill plastic and fireproof materials

Effect of using vhapped fiber inside concrete:
    • Increased concrete plasticity
    • Increased strength characteristics of bends and stretches
    • Increased impact durability
    • Increased fractures resistance
    • Descreses the width of cracks
